Vætr
Vætr is the nordic word for otherworldly wights. They were assigned to different areas in nature, such as under the mountain, in the forest and by the water. They could shapeshift and would cause mischief if they weren’t respected by humans. Norwegian farmers would often offer food for the vaetr outside their doors to keep them from stealing their children or poisoning their crops.
